Dead Men don't get Dessert

Chicago 1929. It's the night that the four leading gangsters in the city are going to form a crime syndicate. Gangster supremo Sal Capone has put on a dinner - at the end of which signatures will go onto a contract which will bind the mobsters together and create an impenetrable crime ring which will bring Chicago to its knees, smash the competition and drive off the Feds.

Set in a 1920s speak-easy, the story takes place over a meal which will determine the future of the Sal Capone dynasty; but who is the murderer and who is the mole?

Sal Capone: the most feared gangster in the district; his specialty is extortion and protection rackets and he has most of the city’s police force in his pocket.

English Langham: ‘English’ operates the largest gambling operation in the city, is as British as they come and will threaten to kill anyone that ridicules her cultural heritage. Langham’s biggest gambling den by the docks was closed down by the Feds only last month and has a score to settle.

Dolores van Harl: Sal’s moll. She has been with him for a while now, and has recently begun to look after more and more of Sal’s operations. Primarily, Dolores looks after Sal’s vice ring, something she has some experience in.

Mickey Mallow: Mickey specialises in running whiskey across the border from Canada and has a number of speakeasy clubs around the town. Mickey is a fixer – if you want something, he can get it for you. At the right price.

Jannice Parker: Janice is a second cousin to the infamous Bonnie Parker, who is becoming such a celebrity in the papers with her glamorous life on the run. Janice herself is not much of a criminal mastermind. She uses her good looks and family name to her advantage though.

Mrs Brown: Mrs Brown doesn’t have a first name and is a mysterious and fear character in the city’s crime world. Mrs Brown specialty comes into play whenever someone disrupts the smooth running of a caper. She makes them disappear with no traces of evidence left behind.
